Welcome to a special podcast edition of the Eastern Neighborhood Bulletin. On today’s podcast, we’re talking Belarus, the country of nine million with Europe to the West, Ukraine to the South, and Russia to the east. I’ll be speaking with Alesia Rudnik, a leading expert on Belarus and the director for the Center for New Ideas, a Warsaw based research center which works with civic and political actors to build a democratic and resilient Belarus.
For this podcast, I wanted not only to further understand Belarus’s politics and its future, but also specifically learn more about the Belarusian exile community and the political institutions it has built in places like Poland and Lithuania. Luckily enough, Alesia, who herself leads one such exile institution, agreed to speak with me. With Trump now eager to force some kind of settlement in the Russo-Ukrainian war and political ripple effects across Eastern Europe, we had a lot to talk about.
